Survey at Council Halls: what do residents experience in their visits

The 'ICT in Local Government' programme carries out a lot of primary research. What are residents' experiences in dealing with their Councils? We ran a survey

among all visitors to three Council Halls to find out why they come, who they are, how quickly they obtain the result they needed.

Visitors’ position: business people make up 63% of respondents

Purpose of visit: business permit for 40% of all respondents

Number of visits to resolve a question: 40% respondents have to come back at least once

Travel time spent to reach County Hall: half a day or more for 40% Makueni respondents

The first known exercise to formulate an ICT strategy for a town in Kenya was carried out in Kisumu in 2004, through the independent industry association Kenya ICT Federation. The exercise involved a methodology adapted from Netherlands and Mexico. Download the report .... (pls pdf)
