Wote, 23 October 2009 - The County Council of Makueni is the first Council in Kenya to offer computer-supported customer service at the Division level.

The Council’s office at Kathonzweni Division has launched the initiative in a ceremony attended by the Provincial Local Government Officer Mrs Rose Mburu, the District Commissioner Mr Otieno, the County Clerk with senior officers, Chairman and all Councillors, as well as guests. Local residents at Kathonzweni can read the Council’s web-site that is up-to-date with all information, including by-laws and Councillor contacts. They can also check the payment status of their land rates and business licenses on the web-site or by SMS. The Area Officer Mr Peter Kimwatu is already training to lead his residents in ICT, using his new Internet-enabled computer.
